Whats new?

To all of you, from here and there,

Thanks to your support 3 years in a row the store has been nominated in the Neighborhood Dynamos Category for the Oakland Indie Award. Since we won the Uptown Dynamo Award in 2007, we are not eligible to win until 2011, but we are so happy about the nomination. Again, thank you!

Bath Department

Remember in the January newsletter we announced a lot of additions to the store: products, brand, etc... Well, we werent joking! After the addition of new products in February, a new brand in March... Ta TAN: a new department: the bath.
Everything started last fall when our favorite linen manufacturer (Garnier Thiebaut) launched a bath towel collection. Knowing the quality of their table linen products, I was pre sold on getting their bath towels.
When the first batch came to the store, Tammy and I spent the day rolled in their huge bath sheet... It was so soft, and right out of the box! Anyway, as usual, a real test had to be done and I volunteered. I am telling you being the official tester for the store, what a hard job!

Well, they absorb as much as they are soft, wash well, the colors are gorgeous and the design simple and sleek... A++++ to the SPA Collection.
As of today, we have 3 of the 12 colors in the store: Licorice (dark brown), Raspberry and Lime . The Spa collection comes in about 7 different sizes from the wash cloth to the robe, and we chose 3 of them. Come take a look!
In addition to the towels, we have the Pacifica, Esteban and Alessi Products, which brings me to the next highlight of this newsletter: Merdolino and Pisellino joined Mr Suicide!
They are both a lot of fun and full of surprises... but I will let you come and check them out, I dont want to spoil the fun ; )

Elbow Grease Designs

Elbow Grease Designs replenished ! Elbow Grease Designs is the name Jenny Hurth decided to adopt for her business.... So basically, Hurry Hurry, we got a new batch of her products and its an explosion of colors in the store:

She designs & hand sews (elbow grease) her products in Oakland from discarded vinyl signs and banners. Originally printed for local trade shows, conventions, municipal or private advertising, these ENORMOUS banners would otherwise end up in the landfill.
Its always fun to know for which conventions or trade shows our products are coming from.
I picked tote bags and beach bags made from the Slow Food Convention banners and shoulders bags from the last Bay Area Auto Show!

Home Organizing and Decor Services

Its about decluttering, shuffling, reusing... its about reinvention!Either from the newsletter or from your visits at the store, you know there is something we do constantly: creating new atmospheres over and over again. Working with an odd shaped store, tons of bright colors fighting over the 800 sq. ft. and the contingencies of a store, and still make it work, shows how talented we are.

Of course, we love doing it, shuffling, re arranging, the "what if?"...
What is "what if" about? well, Tammy and I will be in the middle of a shuffling session and I would say: "what if we put Slim Chair behind Rae Buffet and Bindi Chair facing the Desk?" and here we go, moving everything around, and then one of us will say, "yeah, but what about angling the buffet so it faces the tables?" and blah blah...Clients coming in during theses sessions must think (and it is partially true) that we are nuts. Just slightly, really.

Each time, we create a new store in a way that regulars will ask us if a piece of furniture is new when its been in the store for a couple of months, front store. It happens all the time.
Well, the great news is:
you can hire us to do it for you!
and we can behave too ; )

From decluttering your home, to rearranging, refreshing, organizing, working on color scheme, we can do it.

First consultation is free so dont be shy.
