Where Style meets Hospitality.

Welcome,

Entrez! Open House is an independant boutique specialized in European contemporary housewares, gifts, and furniture.

At the corner of 17th street and Telegraph, the store is located at the heart of the blooming Uptown neighborhood in Oakland. Our illustrious neighbors are the Fox Theater, Cafe Van Kleef, Flora and the newly opened lounge bars: Somar and The Den.

The store carries over 30 different brands to make sure you find diversity in our items and prices range: Alessi, Iittala, Marimekko, Menu, Esteban, Pacifica, Galison, Sigg, and many more!

We also carry many locally designed and produced items: Jenny hurth Bags and Hilside bags are the most popular.

Contemporary, Eclectic and European are the main traits of the stores style.

From stationery to dining set, we pick our products with extra care, and thats what makes Entrez! such a unique destination.

Want to bring home more than our products? Need help to create the store style at home? Well, we offer services and help you making a house your home ; )

About Entrez

I created the store with items and ideas that I haven’t found in the US when I moved from Europe: colorful, affordable, fun, practical, contemporary, unique items…

We have been working hard on keeping the concept of the store close to its roots, when sometimes shifting to unknown brands and poor quality would have allowed us to marge up our products better, but we have been good at not falling into this gap, and we are proud of any items on our floor. It is rewarding because obviously, our customers appreciate.

With events constantly going on at the store, our tables available for our customers’ lunch breaks, our efforts to keep the store display welcoming, warming, securing for the walkers, our attempt to transform our corner of Telegraph in a community friendly spot won the store the Uptown Neighborhood Dynamo Award in May, just in time for the first Anniversary of the store. The best gift ever ; )

Here are some selected reviews about the store:

“Cutest lil store near Cafe Van Kleef! Lovely utilitarian gadgets from Europe galore. Everything is displayed quite nicely with overall flow, nothing too cluttered. Lots of bright colors, very modern and fun. The owner Marie is super charming and helpful in finding what you need whether its a gift or something for your home. Tell her want you want and your budget and shell come up with lots of ideas. She also does lovely gift wrapping. Sign up on her mailing list to learn about store events (including French conversation nights!).”

“Entrez! is awesome.  I love the store -- from the gorgeous decor, to the incredibly scented items, and the amazing people (Marie & Tammy)-- it all ROCKS! I rely on Entrez! for my gift giving needs.  They have wonderful items to suit everyone and they gift wrap beautifully! I totally recommend stopping by and shopping at Entrez!”

“Alessi in the East Bay! Oh sure, they’re carried elsewhere, but I love Alessi and I love pioneers. Marie Deleris, the owner of this wonderful shop, is pioneer in the neighborhood - bringing great home design to downtown with her European style. With her collection of fun housewares and condo-perfect furnishings, the new neighbors will be banging down the door (as soon as they move in!). The store also stocks Koziol kitchen gadgets, Knock Knock brand stationery, and Hue cushions.

But Entrez! isn’t just a store, it’s also a community center of sorts. Deleris, a Parisian by birth and Oaklander by choice, hosts a French conversation group and refers hungry patrons to her neighbor’s cafe. Plus, she promotes Oakland-made goods by keeping a shelf stocked with wares by locals. Tres bien!”

About Marie

Owning a store, with very limited experience in retail, has been, is and, I guess will always be, a challenge, but a fun one, and it is only very rarely that I am not in a mood to put myself to work on one of the on going projects about the store or about the services.

About Tammy

Tammy is gem, and I am so glad our paths crossed in the spring of 2007. She has the hard task to work with me, and my incessant changes of goals, and let’s put it out... moods. With three careers going on at the same time, she impresses me by her work capacity. Working alongside her is making me a better person. She is as knowledgeable about everything at the store as me, and you can trust her with her infallible good taste.

About Audrey

Audrey has been working in the store since October 2008 now.  She managed to find her own spot in the store between Tammy and I strong personalities. Under a shy and quiet first approach, she hides a real goof only waiting to show up at the least probable moment. If you don’t believe me, just check out some of our Newsletter Photo shoots on Facebook (LINK)

About Oakland

We hear it so often: "Why did you choose to open a store in Downtown Oakland? The store will fit so well in Piedmont, 4th street, SF, etc... " and even though I am flattered that our clients think the store will fit in one of these neighborhoods, the truth is I have grown loving downtown Oakland very much, and never regretted the choice after doing my research about the neighborhood.

I like it so much, almost to a point, that I fear the irreversible development of Oakland as a Urban Hot Spot might hurt the heart and soul of the actual city. People are calling the store a pioneer in our neighborhood, and being a part of the renaissance of such a city is priceless (and I am not sponsored by XXX, you know)
